Hello yet again to everyone here on Toms!
Hopefully this will be my last thread regarding my new build and I'll actually be able to help some of you out instead! =D

Anyways,
I have just finished a new build using the ASUS Z97-A MoBo and an Intel i7-4790K and (with a large amount of help from one mr91) have managed to get it stable at a 4.4GHz Core and Cache clock with manually set voltages of 1.175V (Core) and 1.2V (Cache)

Here is where my issues start. Reading HWMonitor and CPU-Z I get values of 1.173V for Core (fine) but 1.229V for Cache. Then, when I go into the BIOS and change the voltages to Adaptive Mode with the offset set to "Auto" and the "Maximum Turbo Voltage" set to 1.175V and 1.2V respectively for Core and Cache I get minimum Core reading of around 0.7V (fine) but a maximum of 1.281V (not so fine) while my Cache still stays at a constant 1.229V

The thread has now gone unanswered for well over a fortnight, does anyone have any ideas?
I'm not overly fussed about maintain the constant 1.173V Core and 1.229V Cache so long as it won't cause long term damage to my system. It was rather expensive and I need it to last =P

Thanks,
Conor

I just posted a similar question.when I set my my 4790k to 4.6 in adaptive mode it makes the voltage set to 1.28 automatically. I don't know why it's so high right off the bat.

Well I figured out how to get the adaptive v.to work me at least I had ai suite set to proformance which kept it maxed out..when I set auto it instantly underclocked and under volted. Then when I stress test it goes back to where it should be

I'm glad you managed to solve your situation :)
I myself am not using AI Suite and my Clock Speeds and Voltages do decrease when the system is idle, my issue is that when using Adaptive Voltages the voltage increases above the limit I set :-(

Yeah I noticed that too...still haven't found an answer to that....I use the uefi to set my voltages but I also had messed around with Asus software to see it does

Hey man, I know this is an old post, but presumably you eventually found an answer to your problem. I (and many others) have/had the exact same issue as you're describing, and I've tried absolutely every solution I've found on other threads and forums, but no luck.

Did you ever find a solution to this problem?
