Hey guys! I need help. I recently upgraded to windows 8.1 pro from Windows 7 Home and I'm trying to re-install all my programs. One specific one is Daemon Tools. On Windows 7, when I installed it, I would mainly use the gadget which was really convenient for me (I used it on a daily basis). Well I'm trying to install Demon tools on Windows 8. I got everything to work except for the gadget. I tried everything, but it just won't work. I even tried to install 8GadgetPack (8GadgetPack - Gadgets for Windows 8 / 8.1), which is suppose to help me gain access to the gadgets (it emulates the sidebar of Vista and Windows 7) and still doesn't work. I attached a screenshot of what it looks like (image #1) when I try to launch the gadget and it comes up blank. I am successful in adding a virtual drive, but I get this (image #2). I just keeps loading. The virtual drive appears in "my computer", but can not get it load onto the desktop sidebar (which is important to me). Can somebody please hlep me? Is there a work around for this glitch?

I would go to their forums, but it's a ghost town there.

Solution
There should be an setting in Preferences for "Use tray agent". If that is enabled then you will need to go into the tray arrow and customize, then set Daemon to "Show icon and notifications", so it does not hide itself while running. I find that really easy to right click, mount image then direct it to the file, easier then opening the full application window.

Try launching the gadget after mounting an image and see if it displays properly. I have not messed with the gadget for daemons since moving to 8.1, always found the system tray icon easier to use for quick mounting. It is possible that their gadget does not incorporate into 8 well since it isn't supposed to do gadgets out of the box.
