My current spec atm is

I5 3330
Asrock H77 pro4
8gb corsair ram
H110 water cooler
1 X 120gb ssd
1 X 60gb ssd
1 X 500gb hdd
2 X R9 280X top (crossfire)

Am currently using evga 750w 80+ modular and it keeps cutting out due to not being big enough now.

What psu would people recommend? Been looking at the HX1000i but I have custom cables and I'm unsure if the 24pin is detached or not, what do you recommend?

Solution
Getting a 1000 watt PSU is a wise choice that way the PSu will be off load most of the time and the life span will increase.

EVGA B2 means 80+ bronze, G2 means 80+ gold and P2 means 80+ platinum the difference is the energy efficiency B2 is 85% energy efficient , G2 is 90% and P2 is 92%.
Why do you need a bigger power supply? The TDP of 280x is about 250w, so that's 500w for the two cards, leaving you with 250w for the rest of the system, and since you aren't overclocking it, that should be more than plenty.

If you're having issues, they shouldn't be because the power supply isn't large enough.

Get the EVGA G2 1000watt PSU it has 10 years of warranty so it will serve you in the long run.

HX 1000 is also a good choice but still i would stick to EVGA G2.

With a single gtx 280x with your system included at peak load the power consumption can reach close to 500 watt .

If you aren't overclocking then the 750W is fine. Even with a modest OC you should be fine.

If want a new PSU or are heavily overclocking, go with an EVGA G2 850W or 1000W. Just know that as you increase the wattage, your PSU will be less efficient while your system is at idle.

R9 280X TDP is 250W x2 is 500W
I5 3330: 77W
Rest of system 100W
Headroom 100-150W
Recommend 827W

So an 850W would be a good number for you.

XFX 850W Core Edition $74.99, great price on a quality unit. Made by Seasonic.

Antec High Current Gamer 850W $89.98. Semi-modular made by Seasonic

Or if you have it in your budget and want full modular. Made by Super Flower.
EVGA SuperNOVA 850 G2 $114.99

Seasonic and Super Flower are the top two PSU manufacturers.

I agree that 850W is a good recommendation, but I have never seen crossfire 280X's use anywhere near 750W. With mild overclocks (GPU's and CPU) it can come close, but a quality 750W should do fine.

That said, I too recommend an 850W PSU should the OP want to buy a new one.

Thanks guys will definitely take your feed back into account! With that said I think my current psu may be faulty, because before I changed my graphics cards u had a gtx 650 and yet it was still shutting itself down a rebooting. So many I should just change the psu to an 850?

Why dont you RMA the old PSU then evga g2 has 10 years of warranty.

About the EVGA g2, I was looking last night and noticed they do a P2 aswell, what's the difference in the g2 and p2??

I just needed to find a decent replacement before sending it back, although I brought the PSU from ebay before from an EVGA store, once I contacted them I then has to register it, send it to Germany they said it could take a month and at this point I thought I just been mugged off,

So in total I need about 823w so the 850w is recommended but then limits me if I want to upgrade further as I will be over clocking once I change my prossessor, so taking all comments into account I will get the 1000w
