Will enabling XMP on X99 Deluxe impact my GPUs?

Hi

I am in the process of doing a build and am new to overclocking.

I have read that if you are using high speed DDR4 with the X99 Deluxe (e.g. above the JEDEC maximum of 2133 MHz) that you will need to enable the XMP profile. Doing so, as I understand it, automatically applies an increase to your BCLK.

I am not too worried about the effects of BCLK increase on the CPU. I have a 5820K which I intend to overclock, and I know I can change the multiplier to suit. My concern is that I also have two EVGA GTX 980 Factory-Superclocked ACX 2.0 cards that will be going in the system too, and that the BCLK increase will also apply to these.

As I say I am new to OC'ing so my hope is I have just misunderstood something, but if I am going to end up juicing my GPU's is there anything I need to know or do in order to keep them in check / prevent them blowing up? Also just occurred to me - will this also invalidate the EVGA warranty?

Thanks for reading :)

Solution
No, it will not affect your 980s. There are BCLK "straps" which only affect the CPU speed which are enabled either manually or using XMP. These straps which are 125, 166, and higher are used in conjunction with the CPU multiplier to get your CPU clockspeed, while at the same time making the higher RAM speeds available through different ratios not available on the "100" stock strap. The rest of the system will use only the 100 strap regardless of XMP profile settings. 100 is the stock "strap" keeping your PCI-E bus, and other system speeds in check as they can't vary much from this 100 strap. It will not affect your warranty, you'll be fine :)
