Ps3 Hard drive question

I know this is mainly a pc website, however I had a quick question as I am sure someone here will be able to answer it.

My friend is giving me his hold ps3 for $50 as he is getting a ps4. The problem it is, it is a super slim edition, with only 12 gb. ( He is formatting it)

Looking through a few sites it is quite simple to replace the hard drive, as long as it is a 2.5' and a Sata. Would a Sata 3 work? Or would I need a 6? This was the one I picked out as it's cheap.

THe super slim has no hard drive, it has solid state memory you cannot replace it. However you can set up an external hard drive or a sata hard drive in a dock as extra storage. You can only replace the hard drive in the fat ones and the slim. Also sata 6 does not exist.

Hey there, buddahbelly!

Any 5400 RPM 2.5" Serial ATA HDD should work for you.
For the PS 3 Super Slim you will have to get a mounting bracket as well though, in order to place the new HDD.
