I recently purchased a amd 295x2 for 4k resolution gaming on my new ASUS PB287Q 28-Inch Screen LED-Lit 4K Monitor. I noticed after playing the new LOTR game at 4k after 30mins- 2hours of playing the computer shuts down randomly and reboots. Has this been a common problem for others also? or am i experiencing some sort of issue with keeping the card "cool enough" with my fan setup. Can someone enlighten me as to what the normal temperature range is for a gpu and what is considered to hot? And could this be due to a driver issue or most likely heat managment?

Solution
Which connectors on the modular panel are you using to connect to the graphics card?

Since AMD did not adhere to PCI Express power draw specifications for PCI Express power connectors this becomes very important. AMD cites a minimum of 28A (=336 W) for each 8-pin connector. The PCI Express standard is 150 Watts for each 8-pin connector. The +12V3, +12V4, +12V5 and +12V6 rails are all rated at a maximum of 30 Amps each.

You will need to use two separate modular PCI-E cables making sure that each cable is on a separate +12V rail to prevent overloading of any single +12V rail that may trigger the OCP circuit. (E.g. one modular cable on 12V3 and the other on 12V4. Do not place both cables on 12V3 or 12V5)...

MaxRevo 1500W 87+ EPS 12V Modular PSU 240-Pin 1650 Power Supply EMR1500EWT . i got it off amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008PBU4RU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . I used two seperate 6pin+2pin connectors for the double 8pins. I dont think its a power issue but you never know! I played for roughly 2 hours and then the computer shut off. Im going to try again but roughly every 30mins it shuts down. could the psu be defective? Btw this happened so far only when im playing shadow of mordor at 4k.
