As I wrote in a previous thread I'm building a new PC and I want to keep the cooler I bought for my old AM2+ Phenom II X4 965 machine and put it in the new one with AM3+ and FX 8350 and put the new stock cooler in my old machine. As far as I can tell from pictures the fastening system seems the same, are they?
Are CPU coolers interchangable between AM2 and AM3?

All the same mounts since am2 mate - fm1/fm2/fm2+/am2/am3/am3+ are all interchangeable.
Be aware of the high tdp of the 8350 though - what cooler are you fitting from your old rig?? It needs to be a good one as the 8350 is notoriously hot under load.

I do have a 212 laying around somewhere. I bought it but I couldn't use it since it blocks off half the ram slots. If you have a recommendation for a good inexpensive motherboard that'll let me use the 212 without blocking the ram slots, I could use that.
