Get the R9 290, with recent price reductions it's much better than the 770. Make sure you have a good quality 650W power supply and you're set.

For $330, you can get a GTX 970, which is superior to the R9-290 in terms of performance per dollar and performance per wattage.

The 770 is similar with the R9 280x.
Performance wise, the R9 290 is better, and it will provide more gaming horsepower.
