Need help with graphics card and PSU

I recently put together my new PC using a guide I found for a cheap(ish) gaming rig on pcpartpicker.com.

I put everything together and things went swimmingly until I started gaming. After about 20 minutes gaming on new AAA titles on high/ultra my screen flashed to this:

Here are my specs:

CPU Intel i5-4460 LGA1150
Mobo AsRock H97 Pro4
Graphics AMD Radeon XFX R9 280X
PSU CORSAIR CX600 MODULAIRE 80+BRONZE
CPU fan Noctua NH-U12S
RAM DDR3 1600 8GB Crucial (x2)

I have two hard drives, one 1TB HDD and one 126GB SSD. I have one DVD reader/burner. I have 3 case fans, two standard fans which came with the case, NZXT SOURCE 210 ELITE, and one extra fan also by Noctua, Noctua NF-F12 PWM.

I've updated drivers, tried upping the voltage on the graphics card, even flashed the mobo bios all in an attempt to get things working, and so far no results. I realize that this is something of a common issue and have read many forum posts of people with the same problem. I've already asked for a new card from the reseller, should get here in a couple of days.

Just recently, the PSU has been making some unsavory noises, sort of like a cow. It will moan and groan for about a second, stop for about 5 seconds, then groan again. I noticed it also after I had been playing Skyrim, testing out different settings in an attempt to get the card working... I've begun to suspect that the problem maybe isn't the card but the PSU. I've looked at several power calculators and get numbers ranging from 450 - 650 watts.

My question is two-fold:
Was I right to get a new card AND should I get a new, more powerful PSU?

Thanks so much!

It definitely isn't regular, I mean to say that it was the first, and so far, the last time it has made that noise. It stopped groaning after about a minute.

I'll check the new card when it arrives and if the PSU makes more weird noises or if the problem persists I'll RMA that too.

In that case, would I want to return the PSU anyway? Should it be getting strained like that normally? I had the voltage on the card up 20% at the time, but seeing as I had been fooling around with those settings all day maybe I shouldn't be surprised it was groaning...

I only changed settings within the AMD catalyst manager software, and after reading how that sometimes fixed the vertical line crash problem, so I thought it wouldn't bother the PSU too much / might be a good idea.
