Hi guys.

I updated my build yesterday and after spending several hours, it did not start up properly. What I did was to move my parts into a new case, and then remove the thermal paste, apply new CPU cooler and add new thermal paste.

HELP IS SO MUCH APPRECIATED. I honestly think either my motherboard broke, or my cpu broke. I will honestly love your help so much, being without my PC feels horrible.

I am gonna take it down to the local computer technican tomorrow I believe if I do not figure out how to do this, and I really wouldn't be comfortable with swapping in a new CPU and just risk burning a 500$ CPU :p

Firstly avoid running pc with no heatsink as the cpu can get hot in just a minute of running (trust me i know). You might want to check for bent pins which could occur between you changing your heatsink. Also, make sure 8 pin is plugged in properly and make sure the cpu fan is plugged into the cpu fan header correctly as some motherboard fail post/boot when no fan is plugged in. In addition, i noticed thats a cooler master bracket, make sure for the backplate you didn't remove the sticky green coating as that's what insulates it from shorting the board, if you have this may result in the short on and off cycles. Finally, do a clean install outside of your case to make sure nothing is shorting it.

Sorry for being the new leecher.

When rebuilding the setup outside of the case, do you recommend building it on the floor (I obviously don't have thoose antistatic carpets) So they directly touch the floor?

Should the CPU cooler be very tightly attached to the Processor? (You know they are making contact)

Do you recommend me to take up the processor (I wear an antistatic armwrist, and then look on the pins?)
I never removed the processor from that lever grip, but I however have been dealing a bit at first with getting the proper placement with the cooler onto the CPU. Should I remove the CPU and just make sure that no pins have been broken or burnt?

also tighten cooler until it becomes snug but not too tight, and yes check for any bent pins

Okay, I will further investigate and build it outside the case tomorrow.
Can CPU's (Intel i5 2500k) resist quite a lot? Because I tried to mount the CPU cooler a few times yesterday before I nailed it. However, Now I understand the system and can do a hole in one.

Ty for the help, will look further at it tomorrow.

I have checked for bent pins under the CPU and this does not seem to be the case.

I have a thing that I wanna tell. Under the building of my computer at first, I screwed the motherboard onto my case without using thoose screws that you are supposed to screw onto. This meant that the motherbard was not "equally" laid out on the board, meaning it was bowed down a bit. It didn't say any breaky noice, however, do you think this could've been one of the reasons why it is as it is right now?

I think I am gonna dissemble it out of the case, remove my CPU cooler and try to use the old one. I have a feeling this will work.

If not, do you recommend me to get a new Motherboard?
I am also thinking about delivering it to the computer guy 20 minutes away however, It would really suck to throw in like 150$ to have him look at it.

Yeh that would help as motherboard standoffs prevent board from shorting and flexing, do a clean build outside of case and see if it boots. Then reinstall with correct standoffs and see if it boots.

What do you mean with standoffs? Are those the screws that you screw onto?
Okay I am gonna lay this baby out on the dining table (It is made out of wood.)

Should do fine right?

How about the RESET and TURN on switches. They are coming out of my case, so I will put everything on the table and then connect those ON and OFF switches coming out from the case? =)

Standoffs are the things you screw into the case to allow the motherboard to be screwed into place. Also yes wood is a good material to work on, also were a static wristband or discharge static by touching the back of the case to prevent any static damage to board

Yeh that will make turning it on easier. If that's not possible, short the 2 pins where the switches would've been plugged into , this will force the board on and then do the same to turn it off. Hope you succeed

BRO theres this JPWR2 on my motherboard that I do not have anything plugged in
cc83b28b8760baabef83b57be82a6315.png

After further reading, I can see that this provides extra power to my CPU?
I remember when I plugged my stuff out of the prebuilt old PC I had, I saw this plugged in.

Could there be anything related to this? Should I plug cables in it?
Or just start without, and then try with?

I did use the standoffs when my MB was in the case.
However, I am now building everything on my table, with the Motherboard laying on the table.
This should work fine right?
No need for standoffs as long as it is not in the case?

Try without it, I'm not too sure about that as I haven't got a secondary power input for my cpu so trial and error
