so why do I get no crashes in my games using 1 stick of ram?

Playing league of legends with 2 sticks of memory I get bug splats named DMP files and some games My game creates a blue screeen of death and restarts itself

but when I use 1 stick of memory nothing happens and I play just fine

my mobo is a p8z77-vlx

my memory is corsair vegence DDR3
CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B

Try the one stick in the other slots to see if there is a bad slot. If all slots are OK, seems the sticks might not work together. Or maybe the timings and speed are not set up correctly in BIOS.

Try what spooky said above. You may have a bad stick of RAM, a bad slot, or settings need adjusting. Also try downloading and running memtest 86+(bootable memory testing program) and run it with both sticks installed. Then run the same program with each stick individually. Try different slots too. Usually 1 full "pass" is enough for checking flaky memory, but you run for hours if you choose. If you get any error during testing, it means someone is wrong. Again you'll have to narrow the possibilities down by try these steps. Also, double check your ram speed/timings/voltage in your BIOS.

yeah ITS SO DAMN WEIRD!! using 1stick again in the 2nd slot! no crashes...but if i pop another one in its gonna crash maybe ur right i didnt set it in the motherboard?!

my current stick is CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B 1600MGZ 1.50 voltage? my mobo is P8Z77-VLX so what would I need to do lol?

Got to your mobo's bios, look for memory management, check the timings and the voltage. If they are right then you know one of your sticks is failing (you said the slots work fine). Really sounds to me like one of your sticks is failing, happened to me before.

If you tried both sticks in different slots and they both work but when used together, they don't. RMA the memory kit. They have a lifetime warranty. Sometimes there is just enough difference with the sticks so that they don't work together well.

What is your MB model and CPU? And which slots are you installing the two sticks?

hmm apparently it worked I went to A.I tweaker and set it to DDR3 1600MHZ
and set the voltage to 1.5 but realy if these settings arnt set up right? do you get bug splat errors and stuff lol? and blue screens of death?

If the timings & speed aren't set correctly you can get all kinds of problems. Freezes, blue screens and more. In other words, instability.

Timings 9-9-9-24
Voltage 1.5V
Speed 1600MHz
