Hey Tom's community!

I am need of some first hand experience/advice. I can't for the life of me decide on a new power supply. I am going for 1000W as Ive added a second r9-290 to my rig and 750W won't cut it.

I've nailed my choices down to three contenders, but can't decide between the three of them. For reference, the coolermaster goes for $245AUD (yup I'm an Aussie!), the Corsair goes for about $269AUD, and the evga goes for $299. I've read countless reviews on all three of them and all score 9.6/9.7 on jonnyguru. I think I'm leaning towards to the coolermaster or the corsair, not sure of the evga is worth the price premium. Anyways I would love to hear from any owners of the aforementioned psu's! Please share your experiences and advise accordingly :)

The retailers I'll be looking at are pccg, MSY, umart, green box IT, arc computers

Thanks again in advance! Love the community over here.

My rig for reference:

Intel core i5-4670k OC'ed to 4.2GHz
MSI Z87 GD65 motherboard
Coolermaster 412 slim cpu cooler
Gigabyte windforce r9-290 OC
Sapphire tri-x r9-290 (2-way crossfire)
Antec hcg 750W bronze PSU
120+250GB Samsung 840 evo ssd
WD black 1TB
Some lg blu-ray drive
Nzxt phantom 410 case

Tough call. They are all amazing.

Coolermaster 5year warranty
Corsair 7year
EVGA 10year

That's one major difference. And it's interesting that that is also the order of their pricing.

You seem like the type that wants the very best of the best. If that's the case, the EVGA is worth the extra. Super Flower really is an amazing company.

Second choice would be the Coolermaster for me, just because it's Seasonic (even though it has only 5year warranty) and the Corsair is CWT which can be hit and miss (I know it's a hit in the case of the HXi, but docking them points for also making some less than desirable PSUs unlike Seasonic/Super Flower).

Thanks for the input so far i7Baby and Jim!

Yeah I must say I am leaning towards the CM. in the Jonnyguru review he did say the fan was really clacky and loud though; any experiences with this or was that just an isolated case? the CM is also a little hard to find at the moment (from retailers without ridiculous shipping fees), but hopefully in the next week or so some new stock comes in. I found it odd that the EVGA was so expensive, given it's $260AUD shipped from the USA (won't go that path as the savings are not substantial enough to forgo warranty, compatibility problems etc). EVGA seems to be really dominating the price/performance/value arena in the US.

Jim, I must admit that I was a little hesitant with the Corsair; however from most reviews it does seem to be a hit. Most manufacturers have hit and miss, so I think I'll judge it on the merits of a particular product line rather than the faults of other lines (like the crappy caps in the RM range etc).

Not sure if this makes a difference but the only reason I was able to consider $250+ PSU's was because I intend to sell my old PSU and an old graphics card to a friend; I stand to make $250 from this and so worst case scenario my financial outlay will be $50 (if I go for the EVGA P2). But saving coin is good too hahahaha.
