Can I connect an ethernet cable to a modem/router that's in another room?

I'm looking to use a wired ethernet connection for my PC instead of a wireless one. However, my room doesn't have an ethernet jack and the modem/router is located in anouther room about 30ft away. Would I need alot of ethernet extension cables to connect to the modem/router or is there an alternative?

The limit on the cable length is about 300ft so you likely would never exceed that in a house.

If you can get ethernet cable even if it is a huge pain it will be better than anything else. It will run at 1g speed with no loss and pretty much never fail since there is no electronics to break.

You can look at the powerline devices, they work ok in most houses but there are houses they just refuse to work in.

I would still go with the ethernet cable if you can make it work in any way.

Finished extension cables come in 50 ft. lengths. Is this long enough? Also if you can get in the ceilings or walls, you can pull unfinised cable and terminate in a wall mounted plate. Then just plug in at both ends.

I'm not sure if these would work. I would have to line them up along the corners of the ceiling. I would proably need a much longer cable, like in the triple-digits in length.

What about the Linksys ethernet port adapter kits? Could these work?
