Hi guys, I'm wondering if you guys can help me out with my problem with my access point set up.
The way its set up is that my modem which is in the basement ( 2Wire 3801 HGV) has all connections in it( internet, and tv). Upstairs of my house I do not have enough signal to access wifi with my phone, laptop or ipad, so what I did was I used our old router which is a D-Link N300 Dir-615 as an access point. I tried to follow some instructions and got it working. My desktop upstairs is connected to the D-link router via ethernet cable and when i try to access the dlink login I cannot access it to change some wireless settings ( for example i wanna put a password on the wifi because i forgot to put one) since I changed the IP of the dlink router. I wrote it down to what i changed it to which is 192.168.1.100 but for some reason it just says webpage is not available. Can anyone help me find the ip of the dlink router so i can log in to it?

A WAN address may have been previously set with a static one. You'll just need to change it to one that doesn't fall within the current subnet. Since the WAN port is unused, it doesn't matter what address you use. Try all zeros (0.0.0.0).

Did you make sure the 192.168.1.100 was reserved for the DLink in the 2Wire settings?

Is your PC getting an IP in the 192.168.1.x subnet from the 2Wire?

If so, you may need to connect the PC and access point directly together (disconnect the cable from the 2Wire). Then, manually configure an IP address on the PC for 192.168.1.2, after which you should have access to the AP settings. Remember to reset the PC to DHCP (or previous settings) when finished.

You'll have to reassign the IP address of the access point to one in the 192.168.100.x range, because you'll never be able to access it with the current address.

So, you'll need to do as previously stated: connect only the AP and desktop together. Set a manual IP on the desktop to 192.168.1.2, then access the AP settings.

Change the AP's address to one in the 192.168.100.x range, making sure it will not conflict with any other address in your network (try 192.168.100.10 if you're unsure).

Reboot devices and reconnect to your network. You should then be able to access the AP with the IP address that you assigned.

Hey thanks for the reply! Anyways I did as you told me and I was able to log back in in my router (dlink) settings, now the problem is when i try to change the dlinks IP address to 192.168.100.10 (previously 192.168.1.100) it wont let me as it tells me LAN subnet conflicts with WAN subnet any idea what I did wrong?

yea i never used the wan port , it is not the matter of the connection of the cables because i connected my desktop to the access point router to a lan port. but this error shows up when i try to change the access point router's IP after logging in the dlink web interface.
