I stupidly turned off my lenovo think pad during the windows 8.1 update and now when it start s I just get the boot menu. I dont have a disk drive and have no clue what to do :(

Solution
solution 1 ; inserting windows installation disc, then system recovery environment (small text left hand corner of the screen) , use system restore and select most recent restore point.

solution 2 ; create a fully functional bootable windows OS with either windows to go or the easier one PWBoot. this way you can interact with the drive containing your original Windows, attach a external HDD or USB stick to recover your data. please note# downloadable ISO for use with PW-boot http://www.techverse.net/download-windows-7-iso-x86-x64-microsofts-official-servers/ . (no installation required on HDD)

here is a guide for using PW-boot ; http://www.nextofwindows.com/how-to-easily-install-windows-7-8-onto-an-external-usb-storage-with-pwboot/...

There may be a chance that a computer repair store, or where you bought your laptop from may be able to retrieve the files. However, chances are that you won't be able to get them back, but I'd suggest giving it a go.

please answer to this topic I'm sure this issue will be resolved.

also if not any windows install media (disc) available simply use a tool called Rufus download ISO and make a bootable USB disk
then you can access recovery environment as described at ; solution 1
