Hi,

My uncle is 75+, he does browsing, downloads and listen to some music, watch some YouTube videos, access his bank sites and use a little bit of office. (No gaming, no high-end SW or multi-thread applications etc). He has a 10 year old PC which is completely outdated. I would like to assemble a new PC for him for under Indian Rs. 10,000 (< $ 170). Can you please suggest a configuration? I'm from India, so some components may not be available here. But anyways, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Benny

As I said, his PC is very old (more than 10 years for sure) and he has already changed many components so that it is like a "ship of theseus" now :). I'm sure it has DDR1 RAM, which itself is costly/unavailable now and not advisable to buy now.

DDR1?!!!!!

Ok, definitively old.

A PC for that propose is easy. Any modern CPU, very low end included, can do all those things. My suggestion is to go with a Haswell Celeron, they are dirt cheap and offer great performance for their price. The rest is up to you:
RAM: any 4GB DDR3 module, the cheapest you can find, there are no bad brands
motherboard: the same, the cheapest LGA1150 socket, usually the ones with the H81 chipset
GPU: doesn't need one.
