Computer shuts down after 3 seconds

i have a 3 year old computer with the following specs
AMD Athlon II X2 240
digilite 960 gm gs3 fx motherboard
segate 500gb hdd
asus ati radeon hd5450
330 watt smps
when i turn on my computer it shuts off after 3 seconds then it wont turn on i have to unplug the power cable and then plug it in (it automatically turns on without pressing the power button)
i removed the hdd and cd drive but it still contunued BUT when i remove the processor it starts
and does not turn off but soon as i put the processor it shuts down
 
Solution
I've seen the PSU fan still function on plenty of failed units. So that is no indication the unit is still performing correctly. It IS a good sign, at least something is working in there, but it can still have faults. The best way to know for sure is to test the PSU or swap the CPU out with a known good unit if possible.

If you have access to a multimeter you can test the PSU. Does your PSU have an on off switch on the back. It would be a rocker switch with - and o. If so, see if it turns off and on with that. Maybe something with the front panel switch as well. Unplug the power switch connections to the motherboard coming from the front panel and unplug it from the motherboard and see if it still acts the same, coming on by itself...

the cpu cooler is fine,The fan is working ,psu fan is working
do you think its the cpu because the psu fan is working
