can i run 970 gtx using a stock fsp 80 gold 500 watt psu? i am not trying to overclock.

i am running a new acer aspire predator using a 4th gen i7 4770 using 84 watts my graphics card i got now is a 760gtx(192bit) using 130watts. i was just woundering because cyberpower pc has 500 watts for requirement for like the same setup as i have with a 970.

A GeForce GTX 970 needs 28 amps on the 12v+ rail and a 500 watt power supply , the amount of PCIE power connections depends on the 970 card.

If it meets these requirements it should be able to run it.

Yes no problem! Has the same requirement as the GTX760.

Minimum PSU for a 980 is 500 Watts so I'd gather a 970 is good to go.

Actually the 760 needs a stronger 12+ rail = 30 amps

970 = 28 amps

im using the 192bit 1 it came with im pretty sure im set im just overthinking and wanted other thoughts on it.

all in all its using 15 watts more then wat im using now so i guess im safe. im trying to refrain from installing a new psu think this one is good enough since i aint overclocking anything

If your power supply is new it is good enough, after years power supply degrades.
