So I used oc genie on my i7 3770 and it overclocked it to 4.1 and my idle temps went up 4 degrees celcius to about 40c with my H80i. So I read and saw that it is not good to OC the i7 3770 and that it will lower its life so I got worried and un overclocked it. Do you think I should overclock and if so do you think that the performance increase is worth it?

You are fine to oc the non-K i7, as long as the temp is lower like you had. Someone oc it to 4.3ghz. youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjbyaTt66XQ
For oc to 4.1 from 3.4ghz, you will get performance boot but I am not sure how much you can get, because from the review oc i7 3770K ( oc to 4.9ghz), the performance will be about 20-25% indreasing. For the oc i7 3770 the performance maybe less than 10%, I guess.
