Hi!

Okay, so I've been posting a lot on this forum the last month about me wanting to upgrade my pc.

And I'm still very confused about what i wanna do.

I bought a pc with the following specs 2 months ago:
Intel Core I7 4770K 4,8 Ghz
Zotac 780 Ti OC Edition
Z97 MSI Gaming Motherboard (SLI Compatiable)
600W Cooler Master PSU
16 GB Ram (2x8)
240GB SSD
1TB HDD

Now, the latest month I've been spending a bit of my free time on researching on PC parts etc. And I found that you could hook up (and play) on 3 screens (5760x1080). Which I (A 14 year old computer loving guy) thought was very cool

Then i started looking into upgrading my PC, first I was looking into buying another 780 Ti, but then the 900 series arrived and changed everything, suddenly I wanted to go with 980's SLI to power the 3 monitors instead of the 780Ti's, and it was gonna cost a lot, all of a sudden.

Lately I've been looking into the 970 model, but I'm so confused about what to do, because I want the best (980's) but it costs a lot.

So I'm asking you guys what to do:
Forget everything, and stick with my current PC?
Go with another 780Ti to power the 3 monitors
Buy 970 or 980 SLI to power the 3 monitors?
Other?

I just sold some of my old gaming gear for quite a bit of money, so I feel like buying just SOMETHING.

What do you think a 14 year old gamer/computer loving guy, like me, should do?

Please give me some advice, I really need it.

- August, the confused.

The 780Ti sits somewhere between the 970 and 980 so I'd go with an extra 780Ti if it was me.

If you go SLI you must, must, must buy a new and better PSU though. Unless that Coolermaster is a VS600 it's not very good

Check out this list http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2263985/power-supply-tier-list.html and aim for an 850-1000W unit from tier 1-2b. My personal preference is the EVGA Supernova G2 1200W but it's just one of many great PSU's available.

There is virtually no benefit for changing the card from 780Ti to 980. Difference is 5%. If you can get almost full price that you paid for the 780Ti then it might be worth it, but otherwise stick with what you've got.

And ffs, buy a 850W PSU, them' cards don't run on magic powder!

And why did you even go for nvidia? AMD is way better at running on multiple monitors! The only thing nVidia is good at is economy and anti-aliasing. But by the time you see the price difference, you'd be lucky if you break even.

Hi!

I just thought that the extra GB of VRAM was usefull for 3 screens, and i wanted to switch out my 780Ti because a lot of people told me that Zotac (The brand of my graphics card) was not very good, and I can see that it has a bit lower clockspeeds than other 780Ti's.

Hi!

Could you explain what DX12 is? And the benefits of it?

The 780TI is a Direct X 11 card.
The 970s and 980s are Direct X 12 cards.

It is said the Direct X 12 will improve overall performance. It isn't being used yet, so who knows if it is true...

If you Google Direct X 12 you can read up on it a bit.

Hi!

Do you think that it would be worth selling my currrent Zotac 780Ti OC Edition, to get another model?

The 780ti is faster than a single 970. I would probably just stick with it for now. I wouldn't spend the $ to SLI it unless you feel like you need higher resolution and more fps.

If I had a 780ti I would wait for the next round of Nvidia products... or if AMDs 390 series totally destroys the 980, I'd jump on that.

Hi!

I don't think you understood what I meant, what I meant was, if I should sell my current Zotac 780Ti model, and maybe get an Asus 780Ti?

That depends. An Asus may cool the card better than the one you have, but we're not talking 10fps better performance. The Asus may OC better, and in that case it may be worth it.

It really depends. I wouldn't bother. I don't think you'll see a significant increase in performance and I think it would be a waste of money.

Hi!

I'm just gonna look into overclocking my graphics cards myself, can you overclock your Cards if you installed them in SLI? And do you have to setup SLI if you have 2 nVidea Graphics Cards? And is overclocking hard?
