Hi guys!

Im looking at this forum the answer to this question, but i still a little confused. I hope someone can clarify the matter.

Im using a Corsair HX750W and I need a UPS that serves as protection, I'm NOT interested in backup time, I just need to protect my pc from electrical problems in my country.

I'm thinking in an APC UPS with these specs:

Max. Potency: 450W
voltage compatibility: 120 V
Max. amps: 750 VA

Is this enough to protect my pc? Or i need to use a UPS that match my power supply?

Thank you very much!

I have this APC set to my air cooled machine that has a 1050watt PSU, 2 27" monitors, 5.1 speaker system, Wacom tablet, 8 port POE, and 2 more smaller items on it. I've only had the power go off once in like 5 years and I just saved and shut the system down, so I did not try and run it till dead becuse my system cost too much to try that. SO I can't say how much time I can get out of it with what I have attached.

But when the power went out it did exactly what it should.

This is what I have on there now.

It works really well, I don't think this one is made anymore and it was replaced by this one

But these are not cheap, I think another good company is Tripplite and they make some really nice UPS'.

Yeah that is what I was getting at is I tried to make sure I was getting something around 30-40% more then I was taking in at full load, so if something did happen my system would not just kill the UPS, or drain it before I could save my work.

They do make a few in the 1000 range that look nice, and again there is a company called TrippLite, I might have gone with them if I knew more about their company when I got my APC brand. I really like TrippLite's products and started using them about 3 years ago for all other projects after I found out the quality of the products they make.

APC is good, it has served me very well and even though your system is saying 450 Watt and 750VA is that at idle of full load? To be safe I would look at a right around a 900 watt model to be on the safe side and a 1000 would be in the ideal range. The 100 watt does not seam like allot, but it might have better features (like a link to the computer) and a few more minutes of time for save and shut down.

I have checked the UPS you are looking to buy and it seems it correctly go with the specification you have mentioned to purchase.
