I use AutoCad 2004 on a Win XP, plotting to an HP Designjet 430, via a parallel printer cable (the only connection at the HP). How can I upgrade to a Windows 7, or ideally an 8, computer and still print to the HP DJ 430?

HP lists drivers for up to Vista, so there is a chance that the Vista driver may work. For a new system, you would either have to buy a separate parallel card, or get a USB to parallel cable, while these have worked for me on many older parallel printer, I've had a couple it didn't work on. I've never tried it on your model printer
