Low GPU & CPU usage in certain games

Hello

This is for now only a problem in Battlefield 4 and Borderlands 2 & TPS. In both games my cpu usage is around 50-60% and GPU usage around 50-70%.

Specs:

Amd FX 8320 4ghz @ 1.3V (stable)
Sapphire Radeon r9 280 (non x) @ default volt - OC to 1100/1300 (stable).
8GB DDR3
600W Cooler Master 80+ Bronze

This is only happening in these games, no others including Tomb Raider, Shadow of Mordor etc.

It has happened to me time to time with my R9 280x and I've only had it maybe 3 months. The drivers would become corrupt and GPU usage would sit really low resulting in bad FPS. I just reinstalled/updated CCC every time it happened. Also does lowering the GPU clocks to stock settings fix it? 850MHz core and 1100MHz memory I think.

Already tried with multiple drivers, Beta or not. Doesn't seem to make a difference. Weird that it's only with these games and not the rest, which are heavy on them own.

The default clock would be 940 / 1000 IIRC, definately 940 though am unsure on the memory at the moment. Will try that one later and report back.

Got to test it now. I couldn't find any AMD stock specs, so I went with what you said (850/1100) and as well 850/1000. Did not make a difference at all. Neither with usage nor any particular noticable FPS difference.

So I bumped it up to 1150/1350 (highest stable clock I've got til now, won't go higher). And still no difference.

So summarized, I've tried:

850/1000
850/1100
1100/1350
1150/1350

And the usage doesn't change a bit.


All power saving features, including APM and Cool&Quiet are disabled within BIOS.

And other games besides those mentioned works as I would expect (GPU usage at 100%).
