I have enough money to get a sound card and I was wondering how much it'll improve my sound. I mostly use my computer for gaming but I do listen to music sometimes. I have a logitech g230 headset and I use a Altec Lansing VS4121 as my main speaker. Will my speaker/headset benefit from a good sound card? I've never had a sound card before btw.

of course it will benifit ! remember it is just an onboard audio you are using to play with your speakers but if you use a Sound card it will improve the quality of the audio but remember also look for a better sound card glad to help .

will a cheap 20$ sound car benefit me much? or should I be buying a 100$ one. I barely care about how good my audio sounds, but it would be nice to have a slight upgrade

Do not buy a cheap-o sound card. unless you have $150+ headphones (excluding beats) you will never tell the difference between the motherboard and a GOOD sound card.

A$20 card will be WORSE than the motherboard audio.

Neither your headset or speakers are anywhere high quality enough to actually show ANY difference.

Don't waste the money. use the motherboard audio. It will be very good.
