I am trying to build a 4k ready computer but everywhere i look people keep saying different things are needed. Not sure what is the best choice. I mainly will use it for gaming and video editing. I have $2,000-$2,500 for a budget. This is what i have so far.

any help/recommends would be awesome.
Thanks

I think something like these would be better: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/VWkkbv

Single GTX 980 is good for 4K, but not what someone would call "4K ready". Right now, there's no single GPU card that is 4K ready, only 4K capable.

Also, are gonna do video rendering or streaming? Why so much RAM and processing threads (FX-8)? BTW, the FX's memory controller won't be able (or will be difficult) to run 4 RAM modules at 2400MHz.

32GB of RAM is wasted on a gaming rig, even if it's being used for 4K, and I'm not a fan of the Xeon for gaming. 16GB at the most is still even overkill, and those PNY SSDs are very low rated and low end (the only redeeming quality these drives have is the price and not much else), on that budget get a Samsung 840 Evo at least, 850 Pro would be the best. And a $20 case on a $2500 build is a definite no. It makes the whole thing look cheap.

Here's what I would suggest:

I even matched a blue / black color scheme. If you want to do something else (black / red, black / orange, white / black, etc) that can be arranged.

I know 32 GB is a waste of money for gaming, also the 8 threads. I was going to suggest a system like yours, but i guess that maybe he may need those things, so i followed that kind PC build.

As you can see, i asked him why the need for RAM and the FX.

But why would you put a $20 case on a $2,000 build? That I don't get. You wouldn't buy a Nissan GT-R and put $4 worth of spark plugs or brake pads on it, would you?

True, but at the same time you also don't want to take a Dodge HEMI V-12 and put it in a Chevrolet Aveo chassis either.

That's arguable, but only when things like air flow and overclocking aren't important. If you're using a Xeon then overclocking definitely isn't important. But if you're using a 4690K / 4790K then you're more likely to overclock and then airflow is extremely important and you don't want your system to overheat. That's where a $20 case is not warranted, because those cases are generally very low quality and usually have terrible air flow. I also don't recommend buying cheap cases either because I've had crap cases and they do fall apart within six months to a year, and then you wind up buying something better anyways. I'd rather just buy quality initially and then you don't have to worry about it.

might as well throw in an i7 for 'future-proofing'
