Hi
Im currently building a new system. I regularly go for Lan sessions. I wanted to go to a mATX while still achieving high overclocks. Is it risky going for a water-cooling solution like the H100i or will it be fine transporting?

Solution

The H100i spins at about 2700 rpm .... two problems with switching fans....

1. Add two $29 Noctua 1500 rpm fans and you cost is now $190 ....
- $50 more than the Swiftech which kicks it's tail without the rpm downgrade.

2. At roughly 55% of speed, performance is reduced by about the same amount .... the Noctuas are only marginally better (1C) .... but significantly quieter than the Corsair's at the same speed .... the Phanteks fans...
If you brought an H100i to LAN party at my place, I'd make you sit in the basement ..... that mother is waaaay too loud.

68 dbA ... my grandma's 55 year old vacuum cleaner is quieter. :)

If ya gonna go with an AOI, get one made out or copper / brass and (Swiftech) not aluminum (H series).

No - http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/281843-29-corsair-exploded

Yes - http://www.tomshardware.com/news/swiftech-h220-x-water-cooling,27289.html

The H100i is about 6 times as loud as the H220-X

I have moved my computer 3 different times from house to house to house without an issue with the H100i. Just carry it carefully like I'm sure you already would and you'll be fine so long as it is connected properly.

Are those DB with the stock fans on, cause if so, yes they are loud as they can go up to 2200 RPMS. I have lower speed SP fans on that go up to 1500 RPMS but usually ramp up no higher than 1000RPMs so it is QUITE quiet and keeps everything at 25C idle and 50C full load with a 4.6 OC on a 4670k.

Haha, i am just worried temps will get too hot in the case if i go to the limit in overclocking. Do you guys think the 212 EVO is better. or a closed waterloo

The Phanteks PH-TC14-PE is about 7 - 10C cooler than the Hyper 212.... The crazy rpm CLCs will top the Phantekls by 1-2C, the Cryorig R1 / Noctua DH-15 will top the crazy rpm CLCs by 2C, the Swiftech tops all.

and the same fan at x% of speed gives x% of the performance

UT60 goes from 326 watts at 2200 rpm to 210 (65%) at 1400 rpm (64%)
