Hi everyone!

There are a million answers to this question online (...please don't send me an lmgtfy link...), so I decided to make this specific.

I have a relatively old system, an AMD athlon 2200+ with a Gigabyte 6600GT 256mb graphics card. I want to install a Linux on it that will run smoothly. I want to do documents, watch videos online, etc. Basically, if I will be able to run a decent web browser, like Chrome or Firefox, I'll be happy.

What you, oh man with Linux experience, recommend?

Solution
I'd start out with Ubuntu. It's a more simple and user-friendly version of Linux, but still requires some work to learn. It also runs really smoothly on older systems (I ran it flawlessly on a Pentium 930D and Nvidia 7300LE video card).

I've played around with a few different distros and found Ubuntu to give a very good user experience. Should run well on your hardware.
