I'm going to buy a pair of Corsair fans for my pc build. However, I don't know whether to get the SP or the AF variant.

They will be installed in the case not on a rad or cooler.

Solution
Well the case has 4 fan slots and I would use all of them because I like good airflow. Of no radiator is taking up fan spots go ahead and put two 140mm AF fans in front(if there are no drive bays otherwise SP fans), one in the back and one in the top. The back and top ones are already included but if you want to replace them the rear accepts 120mm, so an af120 fan should do, and the top go ahead and put an af140 fan.

even though there's fan filters and not alot of ventilation at the front. Also, where do you recommend placing the fans?

Isn't the front two fan grill of the NZXT s340 air restricted? It has a big front panel blocks the airflow and only allow airflow from the top or the bottom slit. I thought that a static fan might be more appropriate in this situation.

Just for future reference, a little update;

It's been almost 2 years since I made this build, and in fact I never bothered with any after market fans. The NZXT case fans which are included are AMAZING. The front two fan slots are taken up by a h100i with the factory corsair fans that comes with the cooler.

If you're looking at a similar dilemma I was, screw the corsair AF & SP fans and go get the NZXT case fans for the entire case. Hell, I'm even thinking about replacing the corsair fans with the NZXT fans on my rad. They are superb.
