Right now i have a asus m5a97 r2.0 and an amd fx 8350.
i would like to upgrade this. But ddr4 ram did just vome out, so I am mot sure if I should buy a ddr4 ram or ddr3 ram motherboard.
If ddr3 I would probably take a intel i7 4790k. If ddr4 intel i7 5870k. I am not sure which one to take. Also right now I have 16 gb of ddr3 ram. So if I would choose the ddr4 ram solution I would also have to buy some.
I would like to have some advice and know what you guys think.
I would also like to have some recommendations for some motherboards.
How long will ddr3 ram still be usable in games?
Is the msi z97 a good choice (if DDR3)?
My price range for the Mobo is not over 200 euro.
Thank you very much for answering.

Normally when building PC's we do not decide on what ram we are going to use! Start by selecting the correct CPU for your use of the computer, then the GPU since those are the two components that define 99% of the performance of the PC!
So really you should ask for advice based on what you are going to use the computer for.

IMHO, DDR4 is still immature technology and the current generation isn't faster than good DDR3, or even slower.

On the one hand, I want people to buy DDR4 so that the market grows and the technology can mature and become hot stuff. On the other hand, at this point I wouldn't spend my $$ on it.
