Hey,

Trying to get 3 displays; it's a pain. My mothoerboard - http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/GRYPHON_Z87/ - specs says it's possible using a dongle to have up to 4 displays. However, I hardly see how. I bought from Amazon this - http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B007FNCBRU/ref=pe_386181_37038081_TE_3p_dp_1 - but it looks like it's inappropriate. It has 3 input and 1 output, I feel like it should be the contrary. I thought of a splitter but I want the 3 monitors to show something different, not the same thing.

I installed an extra graphic card - http://www.amazon.fr/dp/B005F30LLU/ref=pe_386181_51767671_TE_dp_1 - but the computer will not use both the internal and external GPU. It's only using the external one, which apparently cannot show 3 screens (I tried, using VGA,HDMI/DVI, one for each), but the third screen was not showing.

When I try t oconnect, I get "another display not detected" that shows up. In multiple displays dropdown menu, it says "no display detected". Here's a thread where I explained it - http://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/2jept6/is_displaying_3_screens_possible_with_this_setup/

I don't know what else to do! I don't see any settings in the bios that could help. Anyone has any idea?

This is a bit confusing.

An HDMI switch doesn't display multiple items at a time. It is used for TVs that don't have enough HDMI inputs.

So if your TV has 1 HDMI IN you would use this type of device. The OUT goes into your TV's input.

What is your budget and what do you use the 3 displays for? Gaming, movies, browsing, work?

Yeah, I figured the switch was not what I needed...a bit too late.

I'm open minded re-budget but my understanding was that I didn't need anything else than what I have... The goal is simply work (spreadsheets, web-browsing, mostly), nothing fancy required.

You did not read the specifications on the video card you got.
"The MSI GeForce N210-MD512H Video Card graphics card offers a ... Dual View technology offers multiple display support on up to two separate monitors."

A second video card would work along with the 210, if you don't need it for any gaming, you can get an external USB video card like http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=usb+video+card&N=-1&isNodeId=1

That looks like an extremely pricey solution. Can't I get just another of the same external video card;?

Looked at the bios inside out but couldn't find an option to do that. Or I'm missing it, or there is no possibility to do it.
