seagate external hdd problem

i dropped my external hdd seagate expansion 1tb so the header got stuck
i opened it and released it after that i plugged it after that it worked i took it to my pc so i can copy my files then it started saying that i have to format it before using it again ? is there anyway i can recover my files without formatting it ?? please help

Hi there hjjawi,

Even though the chkdsk command fixed the issue, I would advise you to run a brand specific testing software in order to check out the overall HDD's health status. The drop may have damaged something.

i use hdd tune but i still haven't tested it yet ! all i want is to back up the data which im able to at the moment
