we upgraded the motherboard/cpu and ram on our pc it worked great fo a couple of mnths , a couple of weeks ago it did a coninuous beep like it was going to memory dump (blue screen)but froze and had to do a hard shut down, since then the pc wouldnt restart but froze on start up, eventually we tried to reinstall but it now get to completing instalation then freezes and wont complete, have had the new mb replaced and the cpu, have tried old ram and with and without graphics card even tried putting old psu back on all to no avail. now at a total loss on what to do to resolve windows 7 freezing on install,

on one of many screens i have been on over past couple of weeks one had the option of doing a memory check the advancd version lasted hours but came back clear

if you have two memory modules, try dropping down to and testing (alternating) only one in required first slot...

Make sure your mainboard's BIOS settings set to auto/SPD, etc, wherever possible....

Memory timings auto, memory voltage auto (or whatever mem manufacturer recommends)

It sounds like you have tried swapping out everything. Are you sure it is not a compatibility issue?

Definitely sounds hardware related. Are you using a DVD-Rom? Did you try swapping that too?

mdd I have the original ram still and have tried both
netnavi01 yes I can access my bios and I get the normal start up beep
Alpha7 for 2 months it worked well then instead of doing a mini dump the actual picture froze and it has done this since

as spare hard drive is years old I did wonder still about hard drive so took it right out and put it on this (old pc) and windows 7 installed, I don't know if I said but could ( so should again now windows is on hard drive) boot into safe mode
