No power to mouse or keyboard, no monitor signal - new build need advice

As the title mentions I've just built my first PC - it powers up, fans spin, optical drive works. But that's it, nothing to the monitor (removed graphics card and tried mobo output) - tried booting with one stick of ram, tested all connections and ran through the trouble shooting steps here on the forum.
Nada

Have I got a crock mobo (MSI Z97-G43 Gaming Intel LGA1150 Z97 ATX ) or am I one of a long list of newbies who has (not) done something blindingly obvious.

I read that MSI has a high failure rate out of the box - am I just unlucky?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Surely the mouse and keyboard would still power up tough irrespective of the monitor set up (but no, I'm not sure in regards to the monitor - in my ignorance I assumed that the monitor would just plug and play).

So remove the fan, check the pins?

Ok, I'll try all ports, front and back - in regards to the monitor (I'm trying via the motherboard prior to putting the graphics card back in) and sorry for the dumb question, but what settings should I be using?

Yep got an adapter for the graphics card - which currently resides back in its box as it not of much use. I got no joy when it was in the machine
The mobo has a DVI connection which I have had it connected to with no luck

Ok, I'll do it in the morning. Currently fatigued after putting the thing together and then smashing head against wall in frustration.

Thanks for your help, always find you guys on this forum patient and helpful - i'll check back tomorrow and update once I have looked at the pins

Hey, I always like to undo everything and rebuild everything. Sometimes you tend to miss out on a cable or didn't plug it properly. Some have pins so need force to plug in, and some theres only one way to plug in so you can't have any errors. I recommend doing that before RMA.

Good luck!
