Hi,

I'm curious about how External Graphics Card works on laptops. Do you connect them by HDMI or Express Cards? I have a laptop with Internal Graphics and I don't want to get rid of my laptop because it can't run games perfectly, if I'm able to improve it,I'll pay. If anybody's able to help me to know if I am able to support External Graphics Cards, here are some of my laptop's information.

Laptop: 2010 Sony Vaio
Processor: Intel Core i3
I have an Express Card Slot and HDMI

Thanks.

External Graphics cards still aren't quite here yet. They are in developement though and the ones I have seen use Thunderbolt to connect to the PC since it has the most bandwith out of all the options. There been other hacks out there but they require certain laptops to work.

Dell has one which only works with the Alienware 13 laptops.
However, it connects via a proprietary cable so only Alienware 13 laptop can use it. Also GPU is not included with the chassis, you have to buy your own gpu to put in.
Right now that is the only good option for external graphics but it is very expensive.
External Graphics cards is too early and probably not the main focus. Nvidia has been pushing their mobile gpu development to near desktop performance. Perhaps we no longer need external graphic cards.
