Is 40C at idle? It seems a bit high, normally you like to see around 30C but there are other variables like how hot is it in your room, how much humidity is around. 40 isn't a bad number. What are the numbers under load, should be under 80C. In the summer my computer runs around 40C in the winter around 30.
