I agree with bill001g that you should get a gigabit switch since they are not much more. I also prefer a metal case, which usually costs a little more but I've had too many in plastic cases fail, probably due to heat that a metal case radiates away better.

I usually use the Netgear 8 port for small home switches, but the TP-Link HERE isn't bad if you want to save a few dollars. And Newegg has it with a rebate and it may be cheaper with a promo code listed on its page HERE.
Yes it is ok but unless the few dollars difference is a huge issues I would get 10/100/1000.

The key feature to look for in a switch is switch capacity. When it says 1.6g it means all 8 ports can send 100mbit and receive 100mbit all at the same time for a total of 200 per port times 8 ports. This is what make a switch wirespeed or non blocking. This one even goes further to show it can pass even worst case senero when it says it can pass 148k packets/sec Even if they are only 64 byte packets this is still faster than all the ports combined.

When you look at a 8 port gig switch you would want the numbers 10 times larger.

This used to be a very special feature on a switch now it is hard to find ones that do not run wirespeed. Even on some uncommon brand like the one you linked is still as fast as the name brand device.

Woah i know i dont speak the kings english but could you put that into simpler terms for me or link to me a 6-10 port unmanaged switch? Thanks for trying to explain it to me but id rather just keep it simple.

Just read the first line my post then. The rest was purely so you can make a good choice and why I felt that switch was not bad if it meets your needs.

Asking for a random list of equipment from completely unknown people on the internet is no better than you just picking randomly.

Even the reviews on many sites are very biased and some are outright frauds for some equipment. You should always strive to be a informed consumer so you do not get ripped off.
