I am trying to add a HDD to a computer that I already have a SSD working on. The SSD is a SanDisk Extreme II 120 GB and the new HDD is a Seagate Barracuda 1 TB, The Mobo is a Asus M5A99X.

I the Mobo recognizes both hard drives when I am in the advanced settings as you can see in this picture (sorry for fish-eye lense photo): http://imgur.com/cKuN7YG in the Boot Overide it displays both hard drives (and an optical drive) but above that in the boot options it only gives the option of the one hard drive.

Outside of advanced settings all I see is one hard disk and the optical disk http://imgur.com/HaySN4s

If I select the HDD as the primary boot option (which is currently blank) it boots off of the SSD. When I open my PC folder all I see is the SSD (and the optical) http://imgur.com/yWLWpFI

However, windows recognizes the HDD exists if I open the "create storage pool" option http://imgur.com/5134IMb

I noticed that is says the HDD is unformatted so I opened Disk Management so see if formatting it would fix it but, like the PC folder the HDD is not listed http://imgur.com/BguuEU1

I have tried unplugging and attaching each hard drive independently. The Mobo will recognize both the SSD and HDD when attached by themselves but will not list both when both are attached.

I would like to get it so I can access both hard drives in windows as separate drives (i.e. C: and D: ). I will use the SDD as the boot drive, and as you can tell from the screen shot I really need the HDD for media storage.

Thanks!

If Windows isn't installed on your HDD then your PC can't boot Windows from that drive. There's no point prioritising a HDD that doesn't have an Operating System installed.

Try installing Drivers for the HDD and you might get better results. Hopefully it will then display under Disk Manager allowing you to Format the drive.
