Help with PC Double check!

I am a first time PC builder and I feel the need to post this build up for a quick double check on part compatibility, my rationales, and anything else wrong. The goal of this build was to be under $1100, and no intentions of OC'ing at the present time. That being said in the future I want this build to be upgrade-able and expandable down the road with the ability to OC should I press for it (this is for my brother and blasphemer that he is, he does not like to OC).

The Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/tgHY23

Rationale for certain items:

PSU: I know the CX series isnt the best but for this price I'm more likely to save money; if it burns out: another PSU for the same price would be the same as buying the best one to begin with (no saying the cheapy won't last!). Also, SLI/Xfire are a long ways away.

FX 8350- Seems like a better deal than intel overall and will in no way bottleneck this build. I am aware the i5 can be better at single core processing but the difference is not substantial enough to merit the purchase. Also, I know the 8320 would get the same performance with OC but again, my brother is not interested in any OC and hence no big cooling unit with it (case has good flow).

Mobo-I wanted expand-ability and quality overall. Not concrete on this option but I don't want to shoot myself in the foot down the road.

Ram-1866 should be good enough for this build, also still uncertain as of yet whether this mobo will automatically use it @ 1866 or if I will have to manually change this.

GPU- I selected the R9 290 because my brother likes to use a large Hi-def screen, it's price just dropped sharply, and for $60 less and minimal performance loss from the GTX 970 (with the non-epic demands of my brother) he will be able to wait for more price drops and a bigger better beast when it comes. I chose the MSI twin frozr model based on the reviews and some talk of EVGA having some inferior parts to it.

Anything else you guys can suggest/educate me on is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

The New Guy

Solution
In order of priorities

First BUY A CPU COOLER, even at regular temps it's VERY recommendable to get an aftermarket cooler, there's a wide range of prices, just go with something compatible and good price/performance (you certainly can find top 10 best coolers or something in this very forum)

Second, the CX series aren't the best, but by no means they are bad, they are miles better than standard models that come with cases

Third, If you want to save more money=
-Use an USB adapter WiFi Adapter, they are cheaper, they don't use PCI slots and you can easily unplug and transport
-I'd pick 1600MHz memory, much better price/performance than 1866
-If you really need to save more, pick the R9 280X instead of the 290
That PSU has to go. Try an evga supernova 650 instead - 49.99

For another $180 you could go Intel and GTX970 -

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor ($229.97 @ SuperBiiz)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($28.98 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 EXTREME4 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($123.79 @ Newegg)
Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory ($81.98 @ OutletPC)
Storage: Seagate 2TB 3.5" 7200RPM Hybrid Internal Hard Drive ($109.23 @ OutletPC)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Video Card ($339.98 @ NCIX US)
Case: Corsair Graphite Series 230T Black ATX Mid Tower Case ($54.99 @ Micro Center)
Power Supply: SeaSonic 520W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply ($69.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Optical Drive: LG GH24NS95 DVD/CD Writer ($19.98 @ OutletPC)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 (OEM) (64-bit) ($88.98 @ OutletPC)
Total: $1147.86

Splendid
so anything over the 1600 ram is useless for gaming

these cards are getting down to the 300 lvl and are better

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150696

power supply: these is no reason you cannot find a seasonic , xfx or evga power supply for the same price

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438025 10year warranty

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151138

both of the above are substantially better quality and around the same price if not tthe same

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007657%20%20600479296%2050001669%2050001697%2050001402&IsNodeId=1&Order=RATING&Pagesize=20

just a list ^^

you really only need a 650 watt power supply

considering the price difference

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127774

and then considering the spec difference
http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=2438&gid2=1859&compare=geforce-gtx-970-4gb-vs-radeon-r9-290

it's not that much worth it to change his entire build for it

that then? it's a 6 frame difference for 100 dollars
now u gonna tell me to not use a single game as example
then getting straight to the point, the card is newer, but not 100 dollars better than the r9 290

The EVGA is a better PSU than the CX

Okay guys thank you so much for the feedback thus far! Here is the build with updates that i heavily agreed with. I was unable to find the cheap 290x mentioned above, and the wifi was just a kicker I figured by brother would enjoy so I dropped it all together. With him being an electrician he won't have problems running cable. thanks for the help!!

I didn't say not to get the card. I said not to use that website to compare graphics cards.
