Hi all. I have a Dell desktop Inspiron 660, I5, Win 8, 2TB hard drive. I tried to install second hard drive or replaced original HD (2 TB) with a smaller (250 GB) but either cases the desktop does not recognized 2nd HD or new 250GB HD. I just want to remove 2TB HD and replace with 250GB HD and install Windows 7 (purchased from MS). Please, help. Thanks.

install the 250gb, remove the 2tb, and run the windows installation, it should give you option to partition and format the drive under custom configuration
If you insert the new drive first, the os on the already installed drive will format the new drive to the current os. Take out the larger drive then install the new one and install windows. This way the two hard drives won't be corrupting each others os
