Computer freezes as soon as graphics card takes any strain.

Hello everyone, I hope you can help me.

I recently built my first computer by buying parts rather than a pre-built system. These are the specs:

AMD FX-9370 Eight Core Processor ~4.4GHz - Processor
16348GB RAM - Corsair Vengeance DDR3 4x4GB
Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X OC - Graphics Card
ASUS M5A97 LE r2.0 - Motherboard
Corsair CX 750 power supply

Whenever I put any strain on my graphics card (WoW, Warframe, Shadow of Mordor, even the Performance Index checker in Windows) my computer will freeze. I don't get a black screen, everything just freezes in place and I have to hard reboot.

I had a unbranded power supply previously so I've just switched to the CX which had a higher power output. I've installed the 14.9 AMD Catalyst Control Center and drivers.

I can browse the internet and listen to music to my heart's content, but as soon as I put any strain on my GPU, it freezes up. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your help.

James

The GPU runs at a constant 55C, sometimes moving between that and 59C but nothing higher than 59 or less than 55 whilst gaming.

I don't think it's a heat problem, then. My CPU runs between 35% and 55% usage, but that's on a constand 58-62C as well.

Got to walk the dog, but back soon.

Sorry for the slow reply, I uninstalled my drivers and I couldn't get back in due to blue screens. Only just got back on and installed drivers.

I reinstalled Windows when I put in my new hardware, yeah.
