I was playing Just Cause 2 on my new computer (which I built) at a steady 60 fps unless I flew over the city in which it dropped to 40-50 frames. I was interested how much better it would feel if it was capped at 30 fps. I quickly realized that 30 fps felt unplayable, even when I wasn't moving the mouse it felt a bit jaggy. I could pick out the individual frames.
Just to make sure it wasn't Just Cause 2 I tried capping the fps on Counter strike source to 30 fps and again it felt very jaggy. I also had to turn on v-sync to stop the bit of screen tear (at 30fps).
I have already downloaded the latest drivers for my R9 270x (14.9). I have never minded 30 fps before when I have been playing on a Wii U which was connected to a tv. I wouldn't even mind if the frame rate dropped a bit. So why can't I stand 30 fps on my computer? Is it a hardware problem or is it just me used to 60 now? It is something to do with it being capped as 30 fps felt ok on my old computer which had integrated graphics. Would needing v-sync at 30 fps also signify a problem?
Thanks for any help.
