does your ethernet controller show in device manager? if so,try uninstalling it and rebooting.windows should detect it and reinstall it.if it still doesnt work go to device manager and see what controller you have and,on another computer, download the driver to a usb and install it to your computer.

What is the brand and model of the Laptop needing the driver? Do you have the setup disk that came with it. The device driver is usually on the MB software disk. Can you open Device manager and do you see the controller listed. Try this:Go to (http://www.helpjet.net/files-Acer-Aspire-E1-571G.html) on the other Laptop. Download the files you need. Burn them onto a cd. Use the cd with the other machine and open the needed files. Install them from the cd. I am assuming the model listed is the one needing the files.

Hi, I am curious, what does downloading it to a USB do differently than just downloading it on the computer with the issue? I am having an issue where I get a code 10 on my ethernet device. and then I download/install the driver on the same computer, and it works properly. but then after a restart, it reverts back to code 10 and i have to repeat the uninstall/reinstall driver process.

What this may mean is that if you have the driver on a removable drive, the system looks to find it at that location when it turns on and loads it's drivers. If the drive has been remove then the driver can not be found. You need to download the installation file to say desktop and install to the system drive (usually automatic).
