Hi im looking to set up a file server to serve around 5 clients, it will be used to host media files like movies, music & pictures.
What I would like to know is, how I would go about setting up permissions for different users on different PCs, for example;

User A (PC 1) - only music
User B (PC 2) - full access
User C (PC 3) - music and videos
User D (PC 3) - pictures only

All clients are Windows 7 and the server will either be Windows 7 or WHS 2011

Any info is much appreciated.

So whs will have the options in the control panel and be simple enough to work out? The thing i dont get about w7 is that there are options for permissions of shared folders but i can find users on different PCs only the local machine.

Right. On a Win7 box, you'd create user accounts (and passwords) for each person. You then give the relevant account access to the relevant folder(s).

WHS is an actual server, so it is easier to manage.
