Hi,
I'm about to buy a HTPC that I will be using for web browsing, watching some 1080p youtube videos and software development with IDEs such as NetBeans. From time to time I may use Ms Office, mainly word. No games.
As I'm on a tight budget my CPU choices are narrowed to Intel g3420 and core i3 3410. After checking some benchmarks, it is my understanding that the core i3 has better performance (about 20%) when It comes to applications that make full use of multicore/multithreading cpu capabilities.
My question is, will I notice the difference in everyday use? Would it be advisable to go for the g3420 now and get, say a second hand core i5 in a few years, when the PC begins to struggle with basic tasks?
BTW, the core i3 costs 49 euros more.
Thanks.
