I was trying to set up a direct connection using a Ethernet cable but everyone has very unspecific tutorials that are either on a skinned pc, a different operating system, or something else.
I have hamachi installed so it counts as a network and won't go away either. I need help as I want to play some multiplayer games with my brother but using the normal internet with either both using wireless or only one using wireless is just way too laggy of a connection. I am using a ASUS windows 7 laptop and a samsung windows 7 laptop. Anyone know how I could go about playing games via a Ethernet cable to get a less laggy game play?

Solution
You don't neet Hamachi (in fact, it could mess your efforts).
- Check your router' IP address, most probably it is 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1
- configure your PCs for static IP addresses
- set PC1' IP address as 192.168.0.101, PC2 as 192.168.0.102 (replace ".0." with ".1." depending on your router)
- set gateway address, and DNS address to your router' IP address, 192.168.0.1
- with both PCs ON, check you can reach them
(from PC1):
ping 192.168.0.1 This will check your connection to the router
ping 192.168.0.102 This will check your connection to PC2
ping www.yahoo.com This will make sure your Internet is still working
(from PC2): Replace ".102" with ".101"

Solution
You can't without setting up as your implying without making a AdHOC network, which is complicated, tricky and FAILS alot. Your EASIEST solution for you and Bro, buy a cheapy router, UNPLUG the computers from Mom/Dad Internet. Connect to cheapy router sitting on your desk, DONE. That is the best simpliest and quickest way to set up a 'network' for you and him to play.

NOW IF THE GAME NEEDS INTERNET ACCESS to start the game / otherwise, then NO you can NOT do anything about it and you will have to look at what is the matter with your network / connection as to why you>Bro gaming just on your router sucks.
