As the title says i could use some help setting up a small network for the home office. What i would like is to have 2 computers and 1 printer connected to each other via a wired connection (i have a switch). Then i would like those 2 computers connected wirelessly to the wireless router which connects to the modem/internet. Also off the wireless router i would like 3rd computer and 1 printer connected wired to the wireless router.

The reason i want the 2 main computers wired is because the main computer runs quickbooks and the second computer accesses quickbooks quite a bit(multiuser). Also the printer is the main printer for the office and since all 3 are close together i got a switch to connect them however i can't seem to get it to work. The 3rd computer and the 2nd printer are used for more home uses and rarely used for the office. However i would like the office computers to have access to the secondary printer becuase there are times when 2 are needed.

If there is a better way to set this up that would also be helpful. I just figured this was the best way to set it up however i haven't been able to get it working. I do have a switch and have the computer 1 computer 2 and printer all connected however i was unable to connect them and at the same time connect to the wireless router for internet connections. I wish the cable connection was closer to the office however that it not currently possible.

If other eqipment would be best to purchase to make this possible please mention that also. Thank you for your help i looked through the older post but couldn't see anything that seemed to pertain to this. Since it doesn't seem like a adhoc bridge it appears to be more like 2 networks have to be connected together however its been years since ive messed with anything like this and lately my computer tech side is just to make a new gaming machine every couple of years.

If you want to keep everything on one subnet, then the wireless bridge or power line adapters would be your best choice.

Installing a wireless adapter in each PC will work, but that method will enable two network adapters in each and create a separate subnet. This may complicate interfacing and require additional configuration. Of course, the choice is yours depending on what method will help you achieve your ultimate goal.

A diagram might help to understand exactly what is going on here, but let me see if I have this straight:

You have 2 computers and a printer in your office all connected together via a switch, but there is no Internet connection to this setup.

You have a third computer and another printer connected directly to your wireless router, and those devices do have Internet service.

You would like the office computers to be able to share both printers.

In short, you need to link the switch to the wireless router, correct?

If you can't run a cable to link the two, there are a couple of other options:

1. Link them with a pair of power line network adapters. These tend to provide a solid connection, but initial setup can be tricky depending on how your home's electrical wiring is configured. There are adapters that also provide wifi.
Example: http://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-TL-WPA4220KIT-ADVANCED-Universal-Powerline/dp/B00HSQAIQU/ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1414809674&sr=1-4&keywords=power+line+adapters

2. Connect a wireless bridge to the switch. This can be a wireless router with bridging capability, or a dedicated bridge device.
Example: http://www.amazon.com/TRENDnet-Wireless-Media-Bridge-TEW-680MB/dp/B0062K5JAI/ref=sr_1_12?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1414809859&sr=1-12&keywords=wireless+bridge

Computer 2 - wireless(B)

Printer 2-wireless

So basically i want to get them connected so that computer 1 and 2 can interface over a wired connection with each other and printer 1 then connect wireless to the wireless router.

From your answer it seems like i need another wireless router then i need to connect that to the switch and all network traffic on goes out via the wireless router to the other wireless router which connects the other network? So basically the only wireless connection i would be using is the router to router? Is there not a way to connect both computers directly to the current wireless router?
