They're both sh*t. Not sure where You're from, I'm from "nowhere" [Slovakia], and custom cooler GTX 980 cost from 434 [Zotac 980 4GB], over MSi with custom cooler [447 eur] to 468 to EVGA ACX 2.0, or GA Gaming G1, via Strigx for 470.
Don't buy those reference cooler cooled ones, they're total crap. Or You want to hit it with some of Your own cooling solutions? [water?]

dazkyl - You have overpriced hardware at Your country. Best hardware for buck is 970 at this point, best out there is Titan-Z, or some AMD graphics card. I've had 480, 580, 680, 780 and now I hit 970, because I figured it's a massive waste of cash. I have my strigx 970 for barely 240 eur, whereas few percent stronger 980 cost twice and more :/.
