Hi i need help overclocking my Dell Inspiron 1520, i have the cooling under control, and yes i know you guys don't recommend it but it's just a test laptop and kinda sucks anyway. I tried throttle stop and i couldn't overclock. if i cant overclock this laptop at all or it isn't supported, that's ok. I want to overclock it because this model was built for xp and vista but I'm running windows 7 on it and its a bit slow and old. Thanks for your help.

Don't know how well that mobile chip will over clock. You have to see if you can get into the bios and increase the FSB slowly. If you don't know how to do this just search up bios over clocking on YouTube. Of course if you can't get into the CPU setting or can't get into the bios at all then it seems your laptop is factory locked and no program can help that.

The short answer is no. The long answer is still no because this thing is not based on a regular motherboard or BIOS chip. It isn't a retooling of something else and thus there is no BIOS replacement to be had for it. However, what you might be able to do is to replace the CPU with one of the following:

1. 2.2 GHz, 800 Mhz, 4M L2 cache (T7500)
2. 2.0 GHz, 800 Mhz, 4M L2 cache (T7300)
3. 1.8 GHz, 800 Mhz, 2M L2 cache (T7100)
4. 1.66 GHz, 667 Mhz, 2M L2 cache (T5450)
5. 1.5 GHz, 667 Mhz, 2M L2 cache (T5250)

Anyone of those should be 100% compatible with your laptop and at the T7500 end should provide at least something of a boost. That said, you are dealing with a very outdated system, so even obtaining these parts would likely not be even remotely cost effective.
