I need help figuring out how to set my ip configuration to access the Internet. I am using a dynex wireless n router with dD-wrt v24-sp2 in repeater mode. My laptop is hp pavilion g series running windows 7. I can't access the Internet with this laptop. I am able to connect to the Internet with my iPhone 5 using this router, using static IP address. I try putting the same ip in the network adapter settings in IPv4. Gateway I've tried leaving blank and also matching what is displayed on the ddwrt control panel. Usually my computer won't accept it the manual settings. It keeps reverting to some other IP that won't work, even though I manually put in IP. But if I put a gateway address in the laptop settings it connects to the router. But still no internet access. And I can keep playing with the gateway and also DNS address and sometimes my laptop actually thinks it is on the Internet. But will not access any content. So I'm stück typing all this on my phone. Sorry if it's not detailed enough. This took 10 minutes. I just need to know what IP settings to match with the router. I feel like Ive tried every combination so far. And sometimes it tells me that the default gateway isn't on the same network. I think that's referring to the host AP and my repeater having different domains?

Can you pc connect to the signal from the main router where ever that is if you turn the dd-wrt device off.

When you run in repeater mode the DD-wrt router should not be giving out IP addresses and its ip should only really be used to manage it. When you run in repeater mode the device should in effect appear not to exist. Your end pc should think it is connecting to the main router.

The main router is the one that is responsible for the DHCP setting.

You will need to have WDS enable both on the main router and the DD-WRT device.

Now there are other forms of configurations that some people call repeaters but each of these need very different configurations. The best form of repeater uses the 2 radios one to talk to the main...

Now there are other forms of configurations that some people call repeaters but each of these need very different configurations. The best form of repeater uses the 2 radios one to talk to the main router and the other to talk to the clients but I do not think the router you are using has 2 radios.
