I'm building a new gaming PC to replace my old one. I'm also pretty adept at computer builds (My old build was a C2Q HTPC I got working with a 660 TI and 8 gigs of ram i had laying around). I plan on playing BF4, Crysis, and any of the newer games coming out in the next few years. My budget is about $1500-$1800. Here it is:
CPU - I7-4790K
Cooler - Corsair H110
MOBO - ASUS Maximus VII Hero
RAM - G.Skill Trident X 16gb (2x8GB) DDR3-2400 (I plan on running a Minecraft server on it as well as creating mods for minecraft, skyrim and the like. 8 gigs wasn't really enough for me)
Storage - Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD, WD Blue 1TB
GPU - MSI Geforce GTX 970
Case - Corsair 500R
PSU - EVGA 650W
OD - Asus DVD/CD Writer
OS - Windows 10 (When it comes out)

I'll probably buy all this around Black Friday/Cyber Monday so prices should be quite a bit lower. Thanks!

Honestly, I would go for the 970. It will save you $250 and you only lose 10 FPS or so.

Change the PSU to an EVGA B2 or G2. The CX series isn't very high quality (Tier 3).

I would also change the RAM to G.Skill Sniper Series 1866MHz or Trident X 2400MHz.

The H100i is a good cooler, but an air cooler like the Noctua U14S will perform just as well. If you want to go water cooling, look at the Swiftech H220X, it beats every 240mm CLC on the market.

I do not really plan on SLIing later just replacing GPU (Too much for less gain than just a new graphics card) But one thing is that I thought the Intel CPUs can't run ddr3-2400 because it is 1.65 volts? If i am wrong correct me. Thanks

If you want to stay with the Corsair go to the HX version. I agree with the 970 vs the 980. If you have the money to blow do it, otherwise take that savings and put it towards maybe a second 970 :)

Ram is more based on your motherboard and not your CPU. If your motherboard can handle 2400, you can run 2400 no issues.

Why would you plan to replace a gtx980? If it was me, I'd get a 750W PSU and a GTX970. Then later another one.

I don't know where you're getting your info on ram from.

See your mobo - http://www.asus.com/au/Motherboards/Z97A/specifications/ - 3200(O.C.)/3100(O.C.)/3000(O.C.)/2933(O.C.)/2800(O.C.)/2666(O.C.)/2600(O.C.)/2400(O.C.)/2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1866(O.C.)/1600/1333 MHz Non-ECC, Un-buffered Memory

And 1.65V is OK.

Should i maybe replace the motherboard with an rog maximus vii hero and get the trident x at 2400? Then get something like an MSI 970? Im trying to keep somewhat of a color scheme but it doesnt have to be perfect.

I'm thinking of the older Sandy-Bridge/Ivy-Bridge ones I think, because I know that higher RAM meant higher CPU voltage so i guess they must have changed that recently.
